A personal project by Simone Arena, Founder of Simpol
— From the Press Release of the 2017 Personal Exhibition —
Projections, a project by Simone Arena, started in 2016 and curated for more than a year before its debut.
Simone Arena's new studio is an artistic experience that goes beyond the concept of simply exposing photographic shots. It is an active dialogue to be established through the artist's vision in which you end up immersing yourself. The journey through this dialogue takes place thanks to a multisensory experience, composed of visual and auditory suggestions.
Simone Arena stands for all intents and purposes in the photography scenario as a Game Changer, an innovator, who, through new perspectives and values, aims, albeit with respect for tradition, to revolutionize the concept of projection.
“As our idea of ourselves changes, the projection of what we are in the real world and therefore the energy to which our body conforms. Projections illuminates this aspect of our lives: on the one hand what we are and on the other what our self-consciousness is”
The leitmotif of the exhibition is the theme of projection. A series of shots that portray women, whose bodies have been covered with images that illuminate them.
Geometries and Nature: these are the elements that are manifested through projections, projections capable of transforming these bodies into something new and evocative, internally hidden from the opinion of ourselves and then revealed by the projection of our consciousness.
“It is important to create moments of beauty and culture that lead us to reflect on the value of what surrounds us. The exhibition is entirely designed and created by young professionals motivated by the desire to make art in moments of crisis, an art that creates beauty and that is not just a protest or manifestation of discomfort” — Simone Arena
Results and numbers after the first exposure:
Among the many passages that took place during the exhibition is that of Giovanni Gastel, an internationally renowned Italian photographer, so much so that his name appears in specialized magazines together with that of Italian photographers such as Oliviero Toscani, Giampaolo Barbieri, Ferdinando Scianna, or alongside that of Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino and Jürgen Teller.
