Live Projections

— From the Press Release of the January 2018 LIVE PROJECTIONS event —

“When every day we decide who to be, what part of ourselves to project into reality, we choose to highlight only some aspects, leaving others in the shadows. Some of these sides remain in the dark even to us.”

After the first photographic exhibition, Simone Arena had the need to evolve his artistic project by constructing the work itself so as to incorporate the viewer into it.
The Live Performance of the Projections project wants to transmit and bring the observer to the heart of the meaning and to the heart of the artistic theme.
The work is in motion within perfectly defined boundaries. The performative practice of dancers and the fundamental role of images, twirl in our consciousness and revolve around the projection of ourselves to make us identify with something we would like to be or in something that we already are.
The body of the dancers themselves becomes, the artistic medium, the temporal leader of the 'here and now' for the spectator who observes it.
It is at that exact moment that the artist uses their medium to make us reflect on us and our conscience. The contrast, evolution and temporal transformation of the two bodies is the heart of the passage of consciousness, the result of our past and future projections.
The spectator is therefore called into question, he will feel like an actor and his projection will lead him to be part of the exhibition himself, an event where human material is intellectually part of what happens.
A project by Simone Arena curated by Irene Pecchenino
Dancing performance by Giorgia Lorusso and Gabriele Aulisio from Gypsy Musical Academy Surrounded by RILLS
A Simpol-lab production, created on the occasion of the fourth edition of Seeyousound
in collaboration with the Circle of Readers and Seeyousound.
